Hwys 1 and 59 — Thief River Falls

Construct 3 roundabouts on Hwy 1 at Brooks Avenue, Barzen Avenue and the intersection with Hwy 59

Hwys 1, 53 and 73 — Itasca and St. Louis counties

Hwy 2 — Bemidji

Reduced Conflict Intersections (RCI's) will be constructed on Hwy 2 between Beltrami County Road 14, in Wilton, and Beltrami County Road 9. 48 new LED lighting units will also be installed along the corridor to improve lighting and safety.

A Reduced Conflict Intersection (RCI) is scheduled to be constructed on Hwy 2 at the intersection with Hwy 32 near Marcoux Corner.

Hwy 2 Corridor Study — Fosston

The City of Fosston is conducting a corridor study to evaluate the transportation and pedestrian needs of Highway 2 in Fosston.

Hwy 3 — Rosemount to Farmington

Evaluate the Hwy 3 corridor from 160th Street in Rosemount to Second Street in Farmington in order to identify possible improvements to improve safety, on Hwy 3 for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.

  • Study dates: February through December 2021

Hwy 4 — Meire Grove

Reconstructed and improved pedestrian access from Second Avenue South to Second Avenue North in Meire Grove, Stearns County.

  • Status: Completed

Hwy 4 — Sherburn to St. James

Resurface approximately 25 miles of Hwy 4 between Sherburn and St. James; replace and repair bridges; improve pedestrian accommodations in Sherburn and Trimont

  • Scheduled for construction in 2023-2024

5th Avenue West Bridge study

The goal of this study is to jump start the MnDOT scoping process for a future bridge project on the 5th Avenue West Bridge over I-35

Hwy 5/Minnehaha Avenue and Stillwater Road — St. Paul to Maplewood

Safety, maintenance and accessibility improvements are needed on Hwy 5/Minnehaha Ave. and Stillwater Rd. from North Mendota St. to Century Ave. in St. Paul and Maplewood. The project will include repaving, maintenance, sidewalk repairs, and accessibility for all.

  • Construction: July 2023 through November 2025

Hwy 5/East 7th Street and Hwy 61/Arcade Street — St. Paul

Safety and accessibility improvements are needed on Hwy 5 and Hwy 61 from I-94 to Roselawn Ave. in St. Paul. The project will include repaving, sidewalk repairs, and accessibility for all.

  • Construction: April 2024 through October 2025

Hwy 5 — Saint Paul

Replaced joints and sidewalk on the bridge south of Hwy 61 over the BNSF and CP railroads.

  • Status: Completed

Hwy 6 — Itasca County

Resurfaced 10 miles of Hwy 6 from the Cass/Itasca county line to Hwy 2 west of Cohasset; replaced pipes and reconstructed the access at Itasca County Road 11.

  • Status: Completed

Hwy 6 — Remer

Reconstruct or resurface Hwy 6 (Main St./Hwy 200) from the east and west intersections of Hwy 6 and Hwy 200, through Remer, Cass County.

  • Scheduled for construction in 2022

Hwy 7 — Intersection study

Study of the intersection of Hwy 7 and County Road 15/24th Street in Montevideo

  • Study dates: October 2021 - January 2022

Hwy 7 — Lester Prairie

Construct roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 7 and McLeod County Road 1

  • Scheduled for construction in 2023

Hwy 7 — Minnetonka

Added a second left turn from Hwy 7 to Hopkins Crossroad and replaced traffic signal.

Hwy 7 — Minnetonka to Shorewood

Repaving Hwy 7 and several other improvements.

Hwy 7 — Safety Study

A safety study of Hwy 7 from just east of Hutchinson to County Road 9 in Lester Prairie.

  • Status: Study Completed

Hwy 7 — St. Louis Park to Hollywood

Conduct a traffic safety investigation on Hwy 7 from Hwy 100 in St. Louis Park to Carver Co. Rd. 33 in Hollywood to determine if the number and severity of crashes is abnormal, determine the primary factors for the crashes, and propose short-, medium-, and long-term updates to improve the safety of the highway.

  • Study: November 2021 through June 2022

Hwy 8 — Chisago City

The project work improved safety by constructing a dedicated left turn lane on Hwy 8 at Deer Garden Lane.

Hwy 8 — Chisago City

Constructed dedicated left turn lane for eastbound traffic and added rural lighting at Hwy 11

Hwy 8 — Forest Lake to Lindstrom

Installed fiber optic cable and cameras from I-35 in Forest Lake to Akerson Street in Lindstrom

Hwy 8 — Chisago County

Safety and Mobility Improvement study to identified potential needs on Hwy 8 between I-35 and County Road 80 in Chisago County.

  • Studying preliminary design

Hwy 8 — Wyoming and Chisago City

Study identified possible future improvements to the Hwy 8 Corridor between Greenway Avenue North and Karmel Avenue.

  • Study completed; no projects have been funded or are currently planned

Hwy 9 — Barnesville to I- 94

Resurfacing, turn lanes, utility replacement, sidewalk improvements, trail, bicycle & ADA accessibility upgrades.

Hwy 9 — New London

Addition of safety improvements for people who walk and bike

Hwys 10–19

Hwy 10 — Anoka interchange

Construct new interchange at Thurston Avenue, build underpass at Fairoak Avenue and extend West Main Street; Remove all Hwy 10 access in project area.

  • Scheduled for construction in 2022-2023

Hwy 10 — Ramsey

Construct new interchanges on Hwy 10 at Ramsey Blvd. and Sunfish Lake Blvd. including bridges over the BNSF Railroad tracks. Build a frontage road between Ramsey Blvd. and Sunfish Lake Blvd.

  • Scheduled for construction in 2023

Hwy 10 — Anoka Rum River Bridge replacement

Replace Hwy 10 bridge over the Rum River; Additional funding being sought to reconstruct Ferry Street (Hwy 47/Hwy 169) interchange and build auxiliary lanes from Ferry Street to Seventh Avenue.

  • Scheduled for construction in 2022

Hwy 10 — Anoka

Installed temporary ramps to and from eastbound Hwy 10 and Hwy 47, and provided left turn lanes on northbound and southbound McKinley Street.

  • Status: Completed

Hwy 10 at Round Lake Boulevard — Coon Rapids

Replaced signal system, realigned loop from northbound Round Lake Boulevard to westbound Hwy 10, repaired bridges and resurfaced approach roads. Added ADA-compliant sidewalks.

Hwy 10 — Elk River

Reconstructed both directions of Hwy 10 from Xenia Avenue to Lowell Avenue in Elk River, included sidewalks, multi-use trail and signal systems.

  • Status: Completed

Hwy 10 and CR 60 — Reduced Conflict Intersection

MnDOT will improve access and safety at the Highway 10 and County Road 60 intersection in Otter Tail County by implementing a Reduced Conflict Intersection (RCI).

  • Scheduled for construction in 2024

Hwy 10 — Randall

Improve access and safety on Hwy 10 in Randall, which includes two proposed Reduced Conflict Intersections (RCI) at Morrison Co. Rd. 14 and Hwy 115.

Hwy 10 — Wadena

Expand six miles of Hwy 10 from two to four lanes from east of Wadena at 620th Avenue, Otter Tail County, to west of Wadena at Oink Joint Road, Wadena County.

Explore options to improve safety on Hwy 12 between Hennepin Co. Rd. 90 in Independence and Co. Line Rd. in Delano.

Resurface the road and make pedestrian updates on Hwy 12 between 13th Avenue and Sixth Avenue in Howard Lake, Wright County.

Improve safety and reduce crashes along Hwy 12, install a center concrete barrier, and construct a roundabout

Hwy 13 — Spring Lake and Cedar Lake

Resurface and reconstruct road between Hwy 19 in Cedar Lake Township to Hwy 282 in Spring Lake Township and add left turn lanes.

Hwy 14 — Riverfront Drive in Mankato

Construct two tear drop roundabouts at all exit and entrance ramps along Hwy 14 at Riverfront Drive, along with improvements at the adjacent city and county connections. This is a Blue Earth County led project

Hwy 14 — Sanborn to Springfield

Resurface over 8 miles of Hwy 14 from the west side of the Sanborn Four Corners intersection to the eastern city limits of Springfield

Evaluate 3 intersections in the Hwy 14 corridor for modifications to improve safety between Rochester and Byron.

Reconstruct Hwy 15 from Willow Creek Park, south of the railroad tracks, to Hwy 55 in Kimball, Stearns County, includes pedestrian sidewalks and city utilities.

Resurface the concrete for about seven miles of Hwy 15 from the north Hwy 15/Hwy 60 interchange to the Watonwan/Brown County line near Madelia

Hwy 15 and Hwy 60 — Madelia

Replace the pavement for about seven miles of Hwy 15/Hwy 60 from the south Hwy15/Hwy60 interchange to the north Hwy15/Hwy60 interchange near Madelia. Both the northbound and southbound lanes will be updated.

Hwy 19 — Cannon Falls repaving

Repaving, possible replacement of the traffic signal at the intersection of Hwy 19 and Hwy 20 along with ADA sidewalk improvements.

Hwy 19 — Henderson

Extend the lowest point of Hwy 19 (east of Henderson) to offset impacts to the floodway when Hwy 93 is raised. This Hwy 19 work between the Minnesota River Bridge and railroad bridge will take place in 2022, in advance of Hwy 93 construction starting in 2023

Hwy 23 — Fond du Lac

New road connection from Hwy 23 to Fourth Street in Fond du Lac

Hwy 23 — Gaps

Expand Hwy 23 to four lanes from New London to Paynesville (South Gap) and Paynesville to Richmond (North Gap).

Hwy 23 — Milaca

Improve and update Hwy 23 through Milaca in Mille Lacs County, includes the road surface, drainage, multi-use access and sidewalks.

Hwy 23 and Hwy 10 — St. Cloud interchange

Reconstruct and improve the Hwy 10 and Hwy 23 interchange area in east St. Cloud, Benton County, includes the road surface, bridges, drainage structures, pedestrian and motorist access.

Hwy 25 — Brainerd

Replace the Hwy 25 bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway line in Brainerd, Crow Wing County, includes multi-use trail.

Resurface Hwy 25, from near Catlin Street in Buffalo to near CR 106/85th Street south of Monticello.

Resurfaced Hwy 25 south of County Road 30 in Mayer to State St in Watertown, updated drainage and sidewalks to meet current American with Disability Standards (ADA).

Repaved Hwy 25 between First Street in Mayer and Hwy 5 in Norwood Young America, repaired drainage, improved sidewalks south of First Street in Mayer and make accessibility updates.

Community invited to 'try-out' potential walk, bike opportunities at a demonstration project set-up in Wahkon, Mille Lacs County. Includes: Curb extensions, narrowed road and bike lanes on both sides of road.

Reconstruct and improve Hwy 27 between I-94 in Douglas County and Hwy 71 in Todd County. The project will replace four bridges, reconstruct and widen the road and improve access.

I-35W — Minneapolis St. Anthony Falls Bridge

Crews made improvements to seal cracks in concrete driving surface, concrete barrier and curbs; replaced expansion joints.

Study the freeway between Park Avenue in Minneapolis and County Road C in Roseville to identify needs for future construction projects.

A 12-mile stretch of Hwy 36 between Edgerton Street in Ramsey County and Greeley Street in Washington County will undergo a road resurfacing and improvement project.

Hwy 36 — Stillwater Lift Bridge

The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge is located on Chestnut St. in downtown Stillwater. The lift span is operated by the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation. The regular season is from May 15 through Oct 15 each year.

Hwy 36 — Stillwater to Minneapolis

The Hwy 36 Transit Feasibility Study will analyze existing and emerging needs for east-west transit service on Hwy 36. The study is led by Washington County.

Rebuild and realign the ramps at westbound Hwy 36 and Fairview Avenue in Roseville. Add ADA-compliant sidewalks.

Hwy 40 — Milan Bridge

Replace bridge (known as Milan Bridge) over Lac qui Parle Lake west of Milan.

Hwy 41 — Chaska to Chanhassen

Resurface Hwy 41 and make additional improvements along the highway between Pioneer Trail and Hwy 5.

  • Construction: Spring through fall 2023

Hwy 41 — River crossing

Connect Hwy 169 and new Hwy 212 near Hwy 41

Hwy 43 — Repaving

Repave Hwy 43 from Hwy 44 near Mabel to Hwy 16 near Rushford in Fillmore County

Hwy 43 — Winona

Reconstruction of .5 mile of Hwy 43 (Mankato Ave.) from Sarnia St. to south of Hwy 61. Improvements are planned for key intersections along Hwy 43: Sarnia St., Frontenac Dr., Riverbend Rd., Bruski Dr. and Hwy 61/Hwy 14.

Hwy 47 — St. Francis

MnDOT is beginning a planning study of the Hwy 47 St. Francis corridor to examine a range of alternatives to address pedestrian, bicycle and motorist safety, as well as road capacity, and access and mobility issues.

Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 — Columbia Heights to Coon Rapids

Conducted a roadway safety audit to analyze crash information with a focus on pedestrian crashes on Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 between the Hennepin-Anoka County line in Columbia Heights and Hwy 10 in Coon Rapids. Several improvements are being made to the project area.

  • Construction dates: Spring 2020 through fall 2021

Hwy 47 and Hwy 169 — Anoka

Repaired and resurfaced approximately 2.5 miles of Hwy 169 between the north end of the Mississippi River bridge to Clay Street in Anoka. Hwy 47 was resurfaced from Pleasant Street to Bunker Lake Road in Anoka.

  • Status: Complete

Hwy 51 (Snelling Avenue) — Roseville

Updated signals and accessibility at County Road C2 and Roselawn Avenue to meet current standards.

  • Status: Completed

Hwy 52 — Zumbrota to Cannon Falls

The project follows along Hwy 52, from roughly 2 miles south of Cannon Falls and ends at Zumbrota.

  • Scheduled for construction in 2021

Hwy 65 — Ham Lake to East Bethel

Several crashes occurred at this RCI intersection in spring and summer 2020, and some are still under review by the State Patrol. In the meantime, MnDOT engineers are reviewing all available historical crash data to identify patterns, and will be taking short term steps to enhance safety of the intersection. MnDOT continues to work closely with the City of East Bethel and Anoka County to understand the community's needs and concerns.

Improve access and safety at three intersections along a busy stretch of Hwy 371 with use of Reduced Conflict Intersections (RCI) between Gull Lake Dam Road (Crow Wing County Road 125) and Green Gables Road (Crow Wing County Road 126), includes access to Birchdale Road (Brainerd International Raceway).

I-394 and I-94 — Minneapolis

Repair bridge joints and resurface ramps connecting I-94 and I-394 to downtown Minneapolis.

I-494 — Airport to Hwy 169

Study to evaluate design alternatives and determine a scope of work for the future reconstruction of the I-494 corridor from the MSP Intl' Airport to Hwy 169. The proposed project is envisioned to improve the capacity of the interstate and dramatically improve the reliability of the average rush hour trip.

Plymouth Avenue — Minneapolis

The Plymouth Avenue bridge over I-94 in Minneapolis will get a new driving surface and the nearby intersection at Plymouth Avenue and Third Street will get improved sidewalks, ramps and signals.

Stone Arch Bridge — Minneapolis

Preservation of the historic bridge including repointing mortar and repairing/replacing some of the stone

Urban freight perspectives study — Metro district

The Urban Freight Perspectives study is focused on enhancing freight mobility in MnDOT's Metro District by improving communication with freight stakeholders and integrating freight considerations into the district's project development process.
